what is a good registry cleaner and a good cpu/ram diagnostic/cleaner programs. Microsoft uses "uniblue" i believe and its like a program. I can’t afford that. there has to be a good/decent free one until I get the money for a "certified" program, lol. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated

The question here is not whether or not I can upgrade XP to Win 7 because I know I need to backup my stuff and do a clean install etc. etc. – BUT can I install the *64-bit* Windows 7 OS even though I’m currently running the 32-bit version of Windows XP.

My processor is compatible.

I have a gateway laptop and whenever I turn in on, it wont go to the log in screen. I says :

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. then there are 2 options Launch start up repair or start windows normally. When i clicked start windows normally, the green bar thing loads for like 5 minutes, then it just goes black. When I tried Launch start up repair, the results showed 1 root cause. It says system volume on disk is corrupt
repair action: file system repair (chkdsk)
result: completed successfully error code 0×0

I’ve been working on computers for a while now, just small stuff, anti virus, tweaks, general maintenance for friends and people i meet. Through this, i’ve started a small list of programs and reg tweaks i like, but i know there is a lot more. I’m just wondering if anyone has any suggestions to what they use or like. Any advice is appreciated. They can be programs or reg tweaks. I prefer freeware, but i am willing to pay if they are really good.
