I run Win XP, and I have a clean version of Win XP installed on a virtual machine for testing new programs that I’m not sure about, or to try the latest programs my buddies like (and discard if I don’t). The disk is set to non-persistent and reverts back to the default installation when I shut down the VM, so I don’t get loads of rush left on my test machine, but the problem is that I can’t see what’s happening in the background (like if a trojan/spyware is being installed).

I’m looking for ideally a free program that will record/list all the registry settings (and files if possible) when I install a program.

I also help people make computers and this type of tools would be useful for multiple reasons.

I have many registry tweaks which are great for xp users, but I would like to make sure that’s all they do, and not corrupt part of their registry.

Thanks for the help, ;o)

I’m running Windows XP on an HP Pavilion. Recently, I’ve been receiving numerous alerts that there is some kind of spyware on my computer, and to run a scan and active virus protection. However, I do not wish to do so as there is no sensitive information on my computer. The alerts are very frequent and interruptive, but I can’t figure out how to disable them.
