And CCleaner is safe, it's actually good to clean your registry

=====================
CCleaner is good but it downloads a toolbar if you’re not careful while installing it. The following freeware tool is superior to CCleaner for a more thorough and safer registry cleaning utility (IMHO). See for yourself - Try using CCleaner then immediately afterwards try the one below and see what is "left behind"
=====================
Eusing Free Registry Cleaner
Platform: Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista
http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm
=====================
Safe to use:
Automatic backup every time you use it (Unlike CCleaner)
=====================
Cleans the following dead reg related entries in Windows:
=====================
Missing Shared Dlls | Unused File | Extension Invalid ActiveX
Invalid Help Files Invalid Paths | Sound and App Events | Obsolete start menu order | Invalid Fonts | Invalid application paths | Invalid startup programs | Invalid custom controls | Missing ShortCut reference | Obsolete Software Key | Invalid Installer | Reference Missing File and Folder and more.
