First step would be clearing out the CPU fan and power supply with compressed air, see if things improve. If you do need to replace the power supply, those aren't too expensive. I had this happen to me and I just opened my tower and one of my cables were loose on my hard drive so I just plugged it in. before you go to bed I would probably unplug my computer if it is making a noise when not even on It may be your hard drive.
