I have used Registry Healer for a few years and it has saved me hundreds of dollars in technician repairs. You have to pay for it, but when you run it, it cleans your Registry and backs everything up. Then if you have a crash for any reason such as a virus-trojan and lose your programs. You can still enter the PC through MS DOS and re-install back to an earlier date then run a virus check etc. http://www.fixregistry.com
I use Windows Washer 6.0
Using a registry cleaner on a regular basis is a good idea to protect againest system slowdowns and computer performance issues. Used in combination with other programs such as a good spyware and adware removers, a registry cleaner will help keep your system in good shape.
As for which is the best Registry Cleaner, there are many to choose from, depending on if you just want a simple scan and fix solution or a more complex program that will take care of things such as which startup programs load when you start your operating system.
You could try a free solution such as Eusing or a more feature laden software such as Registry Easy.

I personally use Uniblue’s Registry Booster. Can use the free scan from http://www.liutilities.com/products/registrybooster/
If you have new computer, your registry should be fine. However within a very short period, your registry will quickly grow as you install and uninstall software and hardware. Usually, within six months, your Windows Registry will become highly fragmented with regular use; and, if you add and remove software and hardware frequently or often effect changes within your system, your registry may corrupt and be full of errors.
