After you remove the Norton program, remove the Verizon program.

If you want security, run a good firewall, a good anti-virus program and a good spyware program. Norton has problems, and Verizon's software is old, buggy and pretty useless. (They're selling you connectivity, not a computer - you don't have to run their software to use their connection.)

Ok it sounds like the verizon software is picking up a reg. key for norton. If you have completly removed norton using their uninstall program this should not happen, but in any case what you need to do is clean out the registry keys.

Heres a link that can help it's a trial version of a cleaner that's easy to use the link is CNET.com.

After the install use the one button checkup to fix the reg. keys
