Time to Play "Molly Mop-Up" Computer Maintenance System:
1. Unplug the Internet cable, first objective, don’t allow anything to come down on the computer while you are in the process of clean the junk out.
2. Turn off any program you have running automatically when you boot up.
3. Shut down the Firewall and Virus Scanning software.
4. Go to menus and look for the programs you have, see if any of those have their own uninstall program and use this.
5. Open Control Panel and choose add/remove menu. Remove programs you do not use, however be careful of what you remove. There is also an item there that allows you to change the ones for games and other things that Windows installs.
6. Open my computer, then the programs folder and remove directories left behind by the programs you have installed and then removed. Some of these will remain because the program added files after the install. Uninstall only removes what it installed, not what has been added.
7. Open menus, programs, accessories, system. Choose Disk Clean up. Choose all items listed. Click OK or Apply.
8. Run a program that cleans the Windows Registry files.
8. Back to menu, programs, accessories and choose command prompt. Enter: chkdsk /f and press enter. This will scan the hard drive for errors, the /f option will attempt to fix those errors.
9. Now Defrag the Hard drive, this will optimize the hard drive and will allow Windows to give you an accurate report on how much hard drive space you actually have. Deleting files and programs will allow Windows to report an inaccurate amount of drive space that is available.
10. Now the important stage of events, turn back on the virus scan program, completely scan all the hard drive. Follow that with a program that scans for malware.
11. It’s time to turn the Fire Wall back on.
12. Shut Down the computer and connect the Internet connection and then boot back up.
You should do this about every 90 days if you install, download and remove a lot of files on your computer.

One thing to try, Goto Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and see if there are big, uneeded progs there. If so, click on them & choose Remove.
And goto Start, Help & Support and Search on disk clean up
Click Start,All Programs and do same as in Add-Remove, if u wana remove a prog there, try to use its Uninstaller.
