Defragment your hard disks as well. That can speed things up. Also make sure you have enough RAM free for the main applications your opening. You can use Windows Task manager (ctrl + alt +delete) to check what programs are using up RAM. Be careful which tasks you want to end as if you close the wrong task wierd things can happen.
