Forget Norton, download Avast Free from Avast.com.
Free registry cleaners do exist. But you will have to check the manufacturer of the Registry cleaner before you download it. Because it could be a hoax leading to a virus threat. it would be better if you could give the name of the registry cleaner that they are asking you to download.
