Run your anti-virus, let it do a full scan.

Defragment your hard drive. (start menu > all programs> accessories > System tools > Disk defragmenter)

Get Spybot and run it. www.safer-networking.org

Hopefully that'll help. There's more that you can do, but those are things I always hit first.

defragment your harddrive (HDD, properties, tools and then defrag), and even defrag your external HDD as well.

make sure that you dont have any viruses (run the norton antivirus check thingy)

Perhaps consider buying more RAM (it;s relatively cheap), as it would speed up your computer.

Download a new Bios if you havent done do already, because the one from 2006 would now be out of date. - can be found in the HP website under support

have a HP m9350f that slows down to a crawl or freezes once week.
And I am not the only one to experience this issue.
Seems like this is only a HP problem according to these other websites

http://forums.microsoft.com/technet/showpost.aspx?pageindex=1&siteid=17&postid=3609254&sb=0&d=1&at=7&ft=11&tf=0&pageid=0

And am sure there are more threads, just picked two.
And I think this is more of a hardware issue and a Vista 64 issue.

Anybody else have this problem (or a fix), please don't hesitate to post your comments.

hit control alt delete write down the amount of memory being used.

Moving big files will not help. it is your memory and the amount of programs actively running that make a computer slow.
go to run type msconfig or if vista go to start seach and type msconfig and then go to start up tab. uncheck all the ones you do not want to start.

you do not "need" any of then. just make sure you do not turn off any thing in the services tab.

restart then check an see the difference. you can see how much ram you have by right clicking my computer and going to proprieties you should use less ram then you have.

this is quick an easy way to help.

next defrag you hdd and run disk cleaner. that is under start menu/programs/accesories/ system tools,

The reason the computer gets slow is due to the registry files becoming corrupted, or messed up, in simple terms. These files tell the computer or laptop how to operate the software installed on the system. If any of these files get messed up, the computer is not sure what to do and this will really slow down the computer. The other scenario is where you download other software, screensavers, pictures, videos, or even music, and this will somehow change the settings on a registry file. When this happens, the original program that needs that file now has the wrong instructions in it. So, it will cause the computer to run slow, or in a worse case, crash.

You can speed up your computer with a thorough analysis and repair of your registry. The registry Scan will identify corrupt files, paths, and registry keys causing your computer to have errors and run slow.Go to http://www.registry-bot.com to download registry bot.It is the most advanced and comprehensive registry repair product on the market. It will speed up your computer and make windows startup faster.

Same thing happened with me, your registry is corrupt. Even if you have norton antivirus it cannot repair an already corrupted registry. If you are good with computers I think you might be able to repair it yourself but I don't recommend that because the chances of it getting messed up even more are pretty high. Just use a registry fix program and it will definantly speed up your computer. Hope this helps! :)
