Yes, there is an easy answer to that…
1. Find Control Panel in your system and go to Add/Remove Programs and remove any programs that you no longer use like Sponge Bob’s Adventures because you are growing out of that.
2. Do not install anything that pops up in front of you while viewing a website… Here is where you will find most of the malware.(Is it from a really trusted website???)
3. Clear the contents of your trashcan.(this can keep files safe from deletion but will take up questionable space)
4. When you switch users, is there anyone else logged onto that computer?
5. How full is your C: Drive in your computer?
6. Is there any downloading programs running?(Virus scanner or System update? < better let those finish.)
7. Is there anyone else using your primary Internet connection?(Your brother could be killing an alien living in the next town.)

Use CCleaner to clean up clutter left behind by files, and to "clean" your registry. It’s free. When you install it, there is an option to install the Yahoo Toolbar. Remove the check mark because you are already using Yahoo.

Have you taken as much stuff off your computer as possible, and limited what shows up on your screen at start up.
Also, have you gone into your computer and done a cleanup? Uninstall anything fishy.
Most of the free anti spyware stuff IS Malware.
I’m pretty limited in my knowledge, but these are some basic things…oh, and of course, delete your cookies.
Good luck!
The Windows Registry is the master control center for your operating system and applications it runs. Corruption or overload registry issues can cause all sorts of pc performance problems, including poor application startup times, slow Windows start-up, extremely slow shut down, slow internet surfing, inability to resume from computer sleep and more.Cleaning, compacting, and optimizing your Windows registry can go a long way to dramatically speeding up your computer’s performance, start-up and shutdown speed.

Use combofix from bleepingcomputer.com, then download malwarbytes(you may need to rename the installer/setup to something like winlogon.exe to be able to run or install it) from malwarebytes.com or softpedia.com, then clean the rest of the virus with superantispyware and Hitman Pro 3.5 from softpedia.com/cnet.com and just in case you do have a rootkit on your system use GMER from majorgeek.com(Use gmer to scan and anything in red delete.)

or go to safe mode and then do the above:
To get into Safe Mode with Networking:

6. Add some RAM, which is helpful to computer speed.
7. Make a simple desktop to save system source.
8. Set virtual memory reasonably to fully utilize physical memory.
7. if all above do not work, you may consider to do a reinstall of Windows. Before you do it , please remember to back up all your important files.

There a several reasons why your computer is freezing/slow. First question is when was the last time you cleaned your registry. Having a corrupted registry can cause a whole host of errors and problems. Freezing up is one of them. If you have a lot of unnecessary registry keys that are hogging up your computer resources. Your computer is bound to choke. Scan your registry with a good registry cleaner. If you pull up more than 20 errors or duplication, clean your registry.
2. Depending on your RAM specs and your computer usage. This could also be a the issue. Having an insufficient amount of free space does not allow your RAM to function properly. If you are using a lot of RAM by net surfing or other activities without enough empty space your will get freezes. You don’t need to buy new RAM but you should increase your free space by removing unnecessary data and perhaps increasing your virtual memory. The below link will show you how.
3. Spyware could be the culprit, so do a scan and see if your computer is infected.
4. That last area is a hardware drivers. This could be the problem if new hardware has been added to the system. So, the drivers should still be up to date. So try the first two suggestion and see if you can get your computer to stop freezing.
Check your drivers. Hope this helps.
