My PC has recently sprung a new problem on me that I can’t solve. I am by no means a noob but this has got me baffled!

I am using Windows Vista with Intel Core 2 Quad CPU

The problem is that my PC will turn it’s self off for no apparent reason… I can be doing my normal work at my PC and it just goes off, no "Windows is Shutting Down" message no logging off message, nothing, just turns it’s self off.

If I try to turn it back on it wont boot up, I need to wait a few minutes before I can turn it back on (this suggests to me that my PC turned off as a precaution as my processor was over heating but I don’t know to be honest)

It started to happen more often so I ran Windows task manager to see what could be pushing my CPU so hard… nothing obvious there but all 4 cores were running at 100% when my PC turned it’s self off again so I’m pretty sure my PC is turning off because of it but I don’t know what is causing my CPU to run at 100%

I’m running a lot of programs at the same time I must admit but this was never a problem for my PC (at most it would use 80% total CPU for the same amount of open applications and that really is at the very most!)

Needless to say I have ran a virus scan and nothing come up (NOD32 anti virus)

I have also used CCleaner… Run Reg Cure and Registry Cleaner, Tune Up Utilities 2009 and Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware… none of them helped even a small bit.

Stupidly I deleted my restore point that was created before this problem started so thats not an option.

I appreciate any help as always.

I have a dell optiplex gx 260 – new hd 500gb, 2gb memory. 2 cd/dvd writers. This was working fine. I reloaded the os and then restored the data 2 months ago. 9 days ago turned on the computer, saw the dell splash screen with options of F2/12 then splash screen went off like normal and all I had was a blinking prompt in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Booted to diagnostics – all passed. Swapped power supplies. same result wouldn’t boot from hd. Reformatted hd, reloaded windows and minimum software – office, anti-virus, adobe stuff, firefox. Added users. Worked great.
Next day wouldn’t boot again. Followed same process of reformatting hd and loading os and sw. This time made ghost image. I have reloaded the ghost image 5 times and the computer runs great for a day. But it will not boot again after a day. I have even swapped hard drives.
Any idea what the problem is?

How to fix windows registry?

What are some good freeware to clean and fix windows registry? Also, what are some good anti-virus available? Help please!

I am running Windows XP on a Dell computer. I have anti-virus, anti-spyware and a registry cleaner, but have not been able to get this WinAntiVirusPro2006 cleaned out of my system and it just keeps getting slower and slower.

I have a laptop and a desktop PC (vista and XP respectively). In the past 1 – 2 months, they both seem to run significantly slower. In particular, surfing the internet is very slow; loading pages can take minutes or not load at all. Reloading a page sometimes helps. This occurs regardless of the browser used ( I have used IE, firefox and chrome, all with the same result).

I have done the following and nothing has helped:
– run a registry cleaner
– run AVG and Adaware anti-virus and anti-malware programs
– cleaned the hard drives and defrag’d them
– ensured I have more than 500 mb space on the "C" drives (I have plenty of space)
– removed non-essential programs from auto start up
– verified the speed of my internet connection

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.
