Just uninstalled and deleted trial and other unwanted softwares from new Windows Vista laptop, and would like to clean up, organize and optimize the registry.

Please advise.

After doing a clean re-install from Windows XP CD, I went to Microsoft website and downloaded all the updates (60 of them!!!). Then, I installed McAfee Internet security suite and Office XP. Things were eprfectly fine until now, even afetr several reboots. Then, I went ahead and downloaded SP2 from Microsoft webpage. It then restarted my computer. Now, I get the Dell logo, Windows logo, followed by a blue screen with the following error message:

STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}
The image rpcrt4.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

Any ideas on what I need to do? I didn’t want to try and re-install Windows XP again. It’s a slow process. I wanted to make sure if that will help, before starting off the process. Any other ideas?

I REMOVED THE Norton I.S. 2007 FROM MY COMPUTER LONG TIME AGO USING THE ADD AND REMOVE PROGRAMS FROM THE CONTROL PANEL, BUT I'M WONDERING IF IT IS ANOTHER WAY THAT I CAN USE TO GET IT COMPLITLY UNINSTALLED FROM MY SISTEM?.
