It's probably hosed, but try hooking it up to another computer.
If it's under a year or so old, or up to 3 years if you bought a real hard drive and put it in a case, it may be under warranty.
go to western digs website and check the warranty.
If it's dead, the best advice I can give is don't by WD again.
Stick with Seagate ;)

Most WD's have a 5 year warranty. There is a manufactered date on the label. If you go to the WD sire it will tell you how to send it in for replacement.

go to the link below and download the free program, and see if that will help you,it is called HDD SCAN3.0,You can read about it see what you think.scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see two download links one for a Floppy version and one for a CD version just choose whatever one you would like to use.the CD version i believe will be a bootable ISO version of the program, which the ISO will have to be burned onto a CD and you can use your burning software that you use or you can use IMGBURN, that's the second link.OK the floppy version will make a floppy disc of the program, all you have to do is start the program and it will ask you to insert a floppy to write to.So choose which one you like the best, you can download both and save them to your computer so you wont have to keep going back to the website.you have nothing to lose give the program a try,i did once and it was a older version of the program but it did a very good job.it says its a trial version, but its a freeware so ignore that.
