Slow startup is not just caused by Registry Errors. It can also be things like, primarily, what you have set to load on startup, or things like your Ram, CPU abilities, etc.
First, go to start, run, and type msconfig. In this screen, go to the startup area and disable any services/applications/processes that you do not want to load when you turn on your computer. An easier method is to go to each program you want to stop loading, and (if applicable) disable it loading from it’s settings.
Next, for space-hogs. Un-install programs you rarely use and delete files you no longer need. CCleaner can help with old files that most people don’t mess with, but be careful and look through what it decides is junk.
Next, for the registry. CCleaner works well for me, and, as a freeware product, is not purchase necessary. Always back up your registry before making changes to it. CCleaner will prompt you to back-up before you ‘fix’ problems. Just make sure that you go to the registry section when you use it, and don’t ‘run’ it from recycle bin (if installed as such) or it will do as its name suggests, and delete old, outdated, and cluttery files on your computer, which some might be things you want to keep. Scan with the registry cleaner, and remove any errors. Once you have fixed the problems with it once, go back and scan again for any new bugs from deleting old ones.
Do that and your computer’s boot and performance should speed up a bit.
