what are the best programs to use to clean registry abnd startup?
i have been havin major issues with my comp and am lookin for the best free downloads i can use to reallly clean and help speed up my comp,,i really wanna get rid of dead files ect…please help,,lol,,thanks,,,brian

These 2 programs can help you clean your registry for free. Although I recommend CCleaner if you want a registry cleaner and to clean out the startup items.
1) Eusing Free Registry Cleaner is a free registry repair software that allows you to safely clean and repair registry problems.
2) CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. CCleaner also fixes your registry. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware.
I am cautious about recommending utilities that manipulate the registry, but I will agree that CCleaner at least allows you to play it safe. Generally, the registry isn’t the problem. If you have the original system CD, run the system file verification first to get any missing or corrupted system files replaced. It’s under Accessories/System Tools/System Information.
Disk cleanup and defrag also will help.
The best utility I have found for seeing what really starts when you boot is called AutoRuns. It was written by SysInternals and is on the Microsoft web site. Here’s the link.
