it compresses all your old files in your computer and gives you a option for deleting:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files
Offline Webpages
Microsoft Error Reporting Temporary Files
Recycle Bin
Temporary files
WebClient/ Publisher Temporary Files
So basically this little nifty program cleans up all your waste files, saving hard drive space
No it won’t delete your videos, it cleans up all the random bits of data on the hard disk and files everything else in a tidy manner – bit like cleaning up your bedroom.
it just kinda moves things around on your computer to make more room. it just organizes a little bit. It doesn’t actually delete anything, you should use it atleast once a year.
Depending on which alternatives you tick, it removes Temp-files and empties your trash and stuff.
when you delete something it makes a blank space there where it used to be, it basically just reorganizes so there are no spaces, because that space takes up a little memory. You delete a couple hundred spaces and it can make your computer run a little bit better. Thats the idea anyways
Excellent question!! The fact that you are looking at this means you are trying to maintain your system. Disk cleanup tries to look at the disk drives on your system, and will look for ‘useless files’ such as temporary files which are created when you visit a website, or temporary files which are put on your system when you install software or files which were on your system for a long time and have not been used for a long time and will delete the ones which will not effect the operation of the PC or offer to compress older files which you have not used for a long time. Typically a PC has one drive and it is called "C:\" but if you have other disk drives in the system or if your single drive is partitioned, (sliced up) into smaller parts, they will show up with other letter than "C". Temporary files waste alot of disk space and you can feel comfortable running the disk cleanup utility with the defaults and you will be in better shape. Click on the ‘start button’ and choose "help and support" and you can learn more about this.
