when I boot up my desktop w/Windows XP I get an error message "windows\system32\msgvsque.dll FILE NOT FOUND"?
any idea how to download that missing file .dll file? Can I run the Windows system cd, or will that lose files and other items on my computer? No, I dont have a recovery CD. I have run PC Tools registry repair software, I have McAfee anti-virus, malware, security software on my computer.

Go to Start – Run and type msconfig (&OK)
Select the Startup tab and see if there is a line containing that file name. If so untick the relevant box, click ‘apply’ & OK. Then reboot – you will get a message saying the system startup utility has been used – just tick the ‘don’t show this message again’ box and continue.
Hopefully this will sort the problem.
.dll files are not a big worry just something is not starting up right when you boot up, i would google the .dll file and see what it is first than if you have removed that program i would go into registry editor and remove that .dll from the registry, also check your start up folder to make sure a short cut for that program is not there, If you need the program remove it and then re-install it from a recovery disk.
U having A corrupted OS..back up ur files and reinstall ur window XP..
Since the two above me didn’t really help answer your question…Yes, you can use your system (Which I assume you mean as OS install disc) to fix your problem. Boot to your disc and when you get the main screen, press R (which brings you to the repair console). Once at the cmd prompt style repair console, type "fixboot" (minus the quotes). Press enter and let it run. Then just type exit and let the computer reboot (don’t boot to the disc this time). That should fix your problem. And no, the method I gave you will not wipe your files, only replace the core files need to boot up.
