right click on my computer and go to manage. expand the device manager on the left side. there should be something that has a yellow question mark by it. if not, right click on the very top item on the right side in the device manager, and click scan for hard ware changes. allow it to automatically find the drivers. If this does not work, go to driver downloads on emachines site, and choose your model of pc. download and install the sound drivers
the hardware is still physically there, what you need to do is install the driver for it.
for that you need the ‘emachine recovery disks’ that came with it. those have the drivers on them. then go to control panel, system, hardware (tab), device manager, sounds and video….double click the yellow mark and follow the instructions.
This happened to me once as well.
Try re-installing the RealTek audio driver.
go to the site, enter the information on your particular computer. and download the and install as per directions on the site (it is really easy).
