hmmm…how about RAM? if you have less than 512 mb u need to upgrade to that or a gig.
it’s easy to install and pretty cheap, $40-80 depending on the type you need.
and if you’re good on RAM, it may be time to make sure the inside of your tower is clean. too much dust can cause you computer to run hot, which definately decreases performance. DON’T use a bottle of compressed air, that stuff will fry your processor or motherboard if you get too much moisture in there. easiest way is to remove the side cover, discharge the power and ground yourself by holding a piece of exposed metal while hitting the power button (all plugs to tower should be removed). then use a static free cloth (old sock works best imo) and wipe down huge dust deposits. focusing on the fans, heat sink for your processor, cpu and harddrive. be careful if you have to remove parts, use the right size screwdriver and be gentle when unpluging fan wires/cables/etc.
just be patient
Just a stab in the dark here but… have you tried re-creating the shortcuts?
not to sound rude. But… You seem to not know alot about computers or how they work very well. so we will start from scratch. first what kind of computer. What processor, amount of ram, size of hard drive, list all those things, and help will become easier. Because you are using a windows xp computer. I am guessing you are running a slow single core processor with probably 512 ram. also both of the icons seem to be internet icons, that could be another reason. 99% not the reason. I would generally say, your computer is far to out of date, and it is time to upgrade the whole thing. Or build a new.
