About Blank? My computer is running slower and sometimes at the bottom of the screen where information?

appears about the progress of the page that is loading I see "waiting for About Blank." I’ve heard that AB is a virus and a hi jacker. It doesn’t hijack my home page but it does seem to slow progress. What is it and how can I make it go away?
