Clanman has it right the SSD on SATA 6 defiantly boots faster…I would also go to Windows 7..Vista was really boggie.
you can add more ram if it can take it. ccleaner systems tweaks, registry cleaner are programs u dont need. microsoft never approved any of these companies to tamper with the registry. in windows xp, vista, and windows 7. the registry can optimize itself.
The single most impressive upgrade right now to any PC is to get a SSD disc to run your OS and a few programs. They are still a little expensive but a nice boost to performance.
Other that that make sure your programs are not booting up with windows, disable them at startup.
If you have Windows Defender, you can manage your start up programs. A lot of the programs that start up are not needed to start up right away. Click the start button and type in Defender and hit enter. when it opens, click tools and click software explorer. Uncheck all the programs you don’t need to start up right away. Or you can click the start button. Type in msconfig and hit enter. Scroll over to the start up tab and do the same thing with your start up programs just in case Defender missed anything. Or you can click the start button and type in sysdm.cpl and hit enter. Scroll over and click the advanced tab. Under the start up and recovery tab click settings. It will show you the operating systems you have installed and it will also show you the amount of time it displays the list of OS’s if you have multiple OS’s. Uncheck the box if you only have one OS and there will be no timer Vista will use. Or you can go into the registry, but that takes time to explain. You think this answer is long now. Good luck with it.
