The 1545 has a hidden recovery partition in the F8 prompt. Just restart the computer and keep hitting F8 after the machine turns on until you see the safe mode menu come up. Select the option "Repair Your Computer". Put in your password when the prompt comes up and then select the bottom option, "Data Safe Recovery" or something along those lines. It will then erase your machine and restore it back to the way it was when it originally left the factory.
If that doesn’t work, then there’s something physically wrong with the drive, and that’s the root of the problem (such as bad sectors on the drive).
Good luck! 🙂
Edit: Hi India. Hmmm freezing is usually a sign of a bad hard drive. When a hard drive develops bad sectors, the read/write head gets stuck on those sectors and the computer freezes as a result. It would also explain the root cause of all your computer errors (lines of code slowly corrupting in the Windows OS). What I would do is request your free recovery DVD’s from Dell and reinstall your OS via DVD. If the same problem returns or your computer freezes again, then you definitely have a bad hard drive. Dells (and all new computers made after 2007) use SATA. So you would buy a 2.5" SATA drive. Make SURE it’s 2.5" SATA and NOT 2.5" EIED or PATA or else you’ll buy one that won’t fit. Here’s a list of drives on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=2.5%22+sata&x=0&y=0
To get the disks from Dell, first go here to make sure the computer is in your name: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/change_order/tag_transfer?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd
Then go here to request the disks: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form
Cheers! 🙂
