I get the feeling that you are going to try and fix windoze with Linux. Back up data on a crashed windoze system maybe, but I don’t think you will be fixing the windoze OS. You could copy files to the different windoze directories, but major repairs, I don’t think so! I may be wrong, and if so someone will correct me.
You might use google to check on the fixes you are planning to try. If you have MAJOR problems, you are looking at a windoze install – linux to back up / recover lost data, but fixing windoze requires windoze.
I use Ubuntu, Slackware, Red Hat, and PCLinuxOS on the desktop. For Live CDs I use Ubuntu, Slax and Knoppix.
I use Avira and ClamAV to help remove Windows malware using Linux.
Unlike free software, Windows is crippled by licence & technological restrictions – thats why you don’t see many Windows Live CDs.
