   upgrading will repair the corrupt files. just boot up into vista then run the win7 cd.

   1, YES it is easy to restore your files to the factory settings (if the data is still intact and in the same place it was when you got your laptop)
   2, YES to upgrade you just boot your laptop then insert the W7 disc and follow screen prompts.
   3, YES upgrading will replace your OS so therefore replace any corrupt files and drivers.
   4, Yes I have done this on a dual boot so I have Vista 32bit &W7 64bit
   If your going to just run W7 in 64 I suggest you do a fresh install (set the boot option to boot from DVD drive) insert the W7 disc then reboot it will read and boot from disc and you will get option to pick 32 or 64 bit install then follow screen prompts.
