   MY Simple advice to anmy of the operating system to takwe system registry backup for once in a week to keep ur settings and will work fine.

   how to take backup is got to run and type regedit.exe and go to file and click export and save in ur any location that which is safer.

   if any wrong happen when u instaleld new thing u can imprt the regsitry previous u had taken the backup. how to do is same ope registyr by going run typing regedit.exe and goto file this time u need to click import.

   first u aware of registry then can play with registry unless u dont touch them .Backbone to the running is registry only.
