That way you don’t have to handle the task of figuring out what needs to be updated.
The updating part does cost some money, if you want the software to download it for you. However, the demo versions of these programs will still tell you whats outdated.
Do scan means scan for virus, or scan for drivers. If you mean scan for virus you can search on google or yahoo for "online virus scan". For drivers, search online driver scan. Most driver scan site will update drivers for you, but I’m not sure about you have to download something before scanning or not.
