I’ve tried many of them and so far the best I’ve found is "ccleaner". It not only cleans the Registry but does much more. It is also free.
I’m a computer repair tech, and I use this program all the time.

ccleaner is free and has registry cleaner
system mechanic is free for 30 days that would help for a little while plus lots of other things to speed up your ssystem.
deffragler from piriform.com works for me. Free one, dont get the one with support.
It is very unlikley that the crashes are caused by anything that a registry cleaner can fix.
If it was so easy, Windows would include a registry cleaner.
They don’t do anything useful.
If you still feel you want to dabble, then use ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com
Download CCcleaner, it has a registry cleaner function as well as lots of other useful stuff. Its free
