Use CCleaner. It deletes all unnecessary files (cashed, cookies and so on). You pc will be clean and will run faster.
Hi Victoria,
Yes, I believe that you are talking about System Restore, where you would use the Restore Disc to restore your computer back to the way it was when you bought it.
However, I would NOT suggest that you do that at this point.
Find out what your problem IS(if you have one) and then go from there.
If you are wanting to clean some things out, I use Regseeker and X-Cleaner, then I go and do a FULL system (747.6 gigs) anti-virus scan. Set it and go do something else, or use one of my other systems.
Alot of times when you install stuff and then decide that you don’t want it anymore and UNinstall it, the UNinstaller does not remove all the traces that the program installed. This is where RegSeeker comes in handy.
X-Cleaner scans for spyware, malware, adware and other parasites.
Why would you want to "wipe everthing off of it?". You should go to Add/Remove programs and go through them and delete one item at a time
If you have a Windows Disk (I presume you have Windows XP) you can use it to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows from scratch.
WARNING: Formatting the hard drive deletes ALL the files!
If you just want to give it a bit of a spring clean, download C Cleaner (it’s a free program) and run all the tools on it to sort out your computer. It’s easy enough to use even if it looks a bit mysterious at first.
Also, you might want to physically clean the inside of the computer (not the CPU!) by opeing it up and giving the fans a good blow out. All the dust-bunnies that clog up the fans can cause a PC to overheat so it’s a good idea to clean your PC once a year.
You’ll find C Cleaner in the link below.
first go to the control panel
remove old program you dont use
then do this
tuneup util

run the file cleaner
registry cleaner
registry defrag
system optimizer
(under system optimizer use MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE)
also use regvac
(best reg cleaner)

then defrag the hard drive
(in explorer right click on C:/ hit TOOLS then DEFRAGMENT)
system recovery is on some computers but if its not you should have the windows ? installation disc from when you bought the pc .use this to do a clean install…
be sure to back up all your personal files first as they will be deleted during the reinstall
You can reformat the HD with the disk that came with the computer, which should install the OS and have all the drivers for it as well.
Most of the new HP’s though, in the last 4 yrs, have a hidden partition on it though, like your Gateway did, in which you can do what your describing above. You might want to look in the programs folder for a program like this if it isn’t on your start -> programs list or you could try a few different keys when the comp is starting up – F1, F8, Esc or Del would probably bring something up for you.
If you have the original cds that came with your computer you can put in your operating system disk and reboot your computer and follow the options that are given on your screen make sure to reformat your harddrive than after you install your operating system use the other disks that came with your computer to update it and it should be like you first got it
there is, but its hidden on hp’s =)
when you bought the pc , it will either ask u to create system restore disks or they are included.
have a look at the HP site, type in the model…
and see about "boot recovery"
if you wanna speed it up in the meantime.. use this

run issues + cleaner tab
i’m assuming u run both anti virus and firewall ?
if not scan with a virus scanner..

The best way I think it is to reinstall your OS. Make sure you back up all the important files before you do it.
(This is some information about how to do it: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,105866-page,1/article.html)
unless you have an image of your original setup, you will have to format the machine before you take such a drastic step, make sure you have all the installation disks to your drivers and applications – i doubt this very much.
try cc cleaner but its not infallible
There should be a placce that you can go to and restore the computer to an earlier date like maybe when u bought it….. and it will restore it and delete everything and leave only what was there on that date
it should have come with some c.d.’s and a owners manual. look it up it will tell you how to erase everything and reload the factory stuff on the c.d.’s
There is a disk or CD that comes with it… Put it in and Restart ur computer,,, a Black sream will pop it… Do what ever it says.
well you can wipe the hdd. or you can delete all the programs and then reinstall what you need.
open cpu then dust off the whole thing inside buy ney key board and monitor and speaker just like the one u had un install all stuff plus upragrede vista then install
Throw it in a fire and buy a new one….Then you wil have a computer like the one you bought.
er um get a cloth and just wipe it,.. you should be able to restore the finish back to new. lol
Under system tools you have disk defrag, and disk clean up,.. those utilities will help,. but they will not restore your computer to new.
There is no real way to restore to brand new,,.. you could restore to like new if you have an image of your machine when it was new,.. You might also possibly have a restore point that you could use to restore to a previous configuration
Uh, there is no true way, but there is a thing that if you hit I think F10 on the HP invent screen when you first boot up, it said it will restore to factory things, yet some programs still remain.
