VIRUS REMOVAL
1st thing would be to close/turn off System Restore where critters hide out till you Restore the virus.
start,all programs,system tools,system restore
settings,turn off system restore.
this deletes all prior restore points and deletes anything hiding there.
REMEMBER TO RETURN AND:
A] TURN SYSTEM RESTORE BACK ON
B] CREATE A NEW,CLEAN RESTORE POINT
next, download and install use Avast anti virus, run it and remove virus that way
Free antivirus – avast ! 4 Home Edition Download –

open internet options from control panel and delete:
cookies
temp files
history
delete files from prefetch folder:
start,my computer,disk drive (c),windows,prefetch

click select all
delete
LAST option would be to re install windows
There are several

These are all free and have good reputations as an anti viurs
A very good, free AV available to download is AVG 8 Anti-virus:
http://www.free.grisoft.com
And for any spyware problems, get SpyBot – Search and Destroy:

Both are free, as powerful as paid programs, like Norton and McAfee, and don’t use up as many resources.
Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.
Good Luck.
grisoft is ok. I’ve switched to Avast…. go to http://www.download.com and search for avast.
Well Avast (Alwil Software) is a fully featured and reputable anti-virus suite that has a free version for non commercial users. http://www.avast.com
There are others, such as the free version of AVG. I don’t represent Avast, but its the one I’ve used.
http://www.grisoft.com
It’s called AVG Free
Update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

Download SuperAntiSpyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html [free home edition]
Restart your PC in safe mode, and run a full scan with both.

While in safe mode, you may also want to have a look at your start up items by using msconfig.

Be careful with the items you uncheck, you can have a look here to see if they are necessary

You should also have a look at your IE Add-ons while in safe mode.

Disable any you do not use.
After you reboot back to normal mode, download and install ccleaner to fix any registry problems and clean up old temp files.
