"Merc…" is correct: registry is a different critter than ‘sector’ issues.
Bad sectors are physical anomalies and can be corrected (sometimes) by this method:
My computer> Right click ‘c’ drive> Properties> Tools> Error checking> (check both boxes)> OK out.
CCleaner can scrub the Registry, but it will not resolve corrupted registry values; use the Windows disk to do a ‘Repair Windows’ for that.
CCleaner and GlaryUtilities are going to be the favorites posted here. They are totally free and you can get them by searching on Google for their names…
However, I must warn you that they aren’t very effective unfortunately. I made this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEuJTyG5yWo which shows that CCleaner only finds about 10% of the problems that a "paid" cleaner does.
I’m not saying this to plug these premium tools becuase I actually think they are priced a little to highly… but if you want to use a registry cleane to "fix all the bad sectors" on your PC, you’re not going to do it with a free cleaner. You can see which other cleaners work with this site: http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/best_registry_cleaner_tools.html
I think you’re confused on what a registry cleaner actually does. It does not actually fix any bad sectors… that’s something different.
use ccleaner

You can torrent RegistryBooster, it works well.
