After turning off Win XP on my (used) Dell Omniplex for the night, I awoke to discover that all I got on my screen after pushing the start switch was "OVERRIDE". The monitor is ok. The computer powers on and there are no beeps or flashing lights, but nothing loads, can’t even get a C:> prompt. Also, curiously, the cd player doesn’t work unless you unplug the gray cable; then the cd tray will open and you can hear the cd spinning after loading it. The A:> drive doesn’t seem to be working at all. After running Windows online diagnostic (through Dell’s website), they could only suggest that I call them. Has anyone had an experience with anything similar? Is it possible that the version of Win XP that was loaded on the computer when I purchased it was pirated and has expired? Shouldn’t I at least be getting a DOS screen? I do not have the Win XP start-up disc, only a "reset" floppy disc for the A:> drive, which isn’t being read. I have had the comp for a year w/o problems.
