So On Myspace, There’s A Blank White Spot Where Extended Network Normally Is. I’ve Tried Removing Spaces. Removing Unneeded Codes [ <br> <br> ] <– That Stuff. So What Else Can I Do ?

So here is the deal. Apparently, my computer is supposed to be "the fastest one in the house" (according to my dad). But when I was younger, I downloaded Limewire, And all sorts of different fonts and cursors from sketchy websites (I was young and stupid apparently).
Now, my computer is really slow. It takes about 15 mins to boot up, and it takes about 10 seconds to just respond to my clicks.

I have removed Limewire since then, and tried to get rid of all of the fonts and stuff, but that hasn’t really helped much.

I have Spybot and Symantec to get rid of spyware and viruses, but it is still so slow.

I would ask my dad, but I don’t want him to know that I had Limewire. >.<

Is there a software I can buy that can help me fix it? Or should I just buy a new hardrive and start over?

Thanks!

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file."

This is a common error and I see all kinds of troubleshooting online. This message has come on my computer many times. The error has probably happened at least 5 times and I had to reformat my hard drive each time. None of the online solutions helped besides reformatting. I maintain my computer with recent updates and Norton. I also noticed that when I install some LEGIT programs, my computer tends bring this error.

My computer is around 8 years old that uses XP SP2 but I can’t afford a new one. Is there a way to prevent this hal.dll error? Should I buy a new hard drive? I replaced my original hard drive around maybe 4 years ago with a Seagate Barracuda (currently using). One weird thing to note is that the hard drive has worked when under a hard drive enclosure. Not sure about now. Any suggestions?

I lost it when I did a registry cleaning.. how can i recover windows xp style? Ive tried going through administer tools and starting themes. it doesn’t work..
Nope that didn’t work Raf >.<

I’m looking at a friends laptop at the moment. It crashed, won’t boot, freezes at boot up and he lost all his files. I hooked his HDD up to my pc using an ide adapter and recovered the files no problem. My question is this though, having complete access to his windows folder, is there anyway of repairing the drive by configuring the files within it? is there any software out there that might scan for the problem maybe.

Cheers

It’s definitely the drive
It’s definitely the drive because I tried it out in another machine
ok so I formatted the drive, popped it back in the laptop and went to boot from cd drive which is first in boot sequence and I’m getting the error "ntldr is missing" .What now?
