With the OS you have it will not recognize no more than 4 GB Ram. All above that amount is just wasted Ram.
The 32-bit versions of Windows XP do not support PAE. So they are limited to 4GB of addressable physical memory. Some of the address space is consumed by hardware mappings, and 3.5GB is a typical maximum.
The maximum addressable physical RAM on a 32 bit Win XP machine is 4GB.
Do you have WinXP 64 bit? 32 bit Windows can only address 4gb of memory total
you have a 32 bit operating system. you need a 64 bit os for it to recognize over 3.5 GB
you’re running a 32bit operating system … it has the limitation of only being able to address 4GB of ram in total … doesn’t matter how much ram you throw at it … it will only ever recognize 3.5GB’s
64bit OS will recognize a theoretical 16TB’s of ram
