Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html
Well, these days once you get compromised to fully guarantee that you system is clean it is best to backup and re-install windows.
After you format should do the following (free things) to make sure you don’t run into this issue again.
Use Firefox not Internet Explorer
http://getfirefox.com
Download Windows Defender
http://microsoft.com/spyware
Download an Anti-Virus
I recommend nod32 (eset.com), but if you want a free one get
Avg Free
http://free.grisoft.com
you can try all this before you format to try to remove the problem but it’s best to start from scratch and prevent the problem rather than trying to remove it.
try this http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
Use these scans to remove it, they are both free.
Spybot – Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven’t intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don’t see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there’s no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.
