In a panic, I took it to Geek Squad. They’ve told me that had a software corruption – hardware was fine.
Anyone else heard of this happening recently?
Any other suggestions besides what GS has recommended, which was re-installing Vista 0, and recovery/back up of files 0, and this is after paying for a ‘diagnostic’.
I’m pretty sure I could’ve told them there was a software problem.
They couldn’t even pinpoint the problem.
Please help????
What can I do?
I’m open to all suggestions and points of view.
Thank you all.

there is a bot running around that looks like a windows update its a fake.looks like you got it .if computer wont boot past bios then need to wipe hard drive and reinstall windows.do hope you have the vista disk .
and please turn off auto updates make sure you get updates from microsoft .firefox tells you something is tryint to install to you system,IE has active x junk that hyjacks the system and installs with out you knowing it (i dont like that at all )
Known to happen sometimes.
For Xp the below is 100% Dunno if vista has a ‘Safe mode’
Safe mode start up and remove last update.
Is there not a ‘Last known Good Configuration’ option with Vista boot options?
Might need to boot off the Vista cd and select repair.
If i get 5mins i’ll look into it for ya
We can help you better if you mention which OS you are using.
Anyway, sometimes this will do it.
Cold boot to the BIOS setup screen.
Load Defaults
Save and Exit.

Can’t you even get it to start in safe mode? Restart your PC and press F8 continually until you get the option to start in safe mode. If you are running windows Vista you should be able to do a system restore to a point when your computer was working.
