It works very well.
Using a registry cleaner can fix your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you’ve installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it’s Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

Ad-Aware shouldn’t slow down your computer.
You haven’t said what application you use to open emails. Outlook? Outlook Express? Yahoo Mail? Hotmail? Your ISP’s web mail client?
Anyway, you probably still have a virus or malware that Ad-Aware on its own won’t get rid of, so here goes:
Download and install Mozilla Firefox
Using Firefox as your browser, download Spybot Search & Destroy, SUPER AntiSpyware, and Spyware Blaster. They are all free and you can get them from http://www.download.com, http://www.pcworld.com, or http://www.tucows.com. Download them ONLY – don’t install them right away. Boot to safe mode and install and run them from there.
Also, using Firefox, download AVG Free and Avast free edition. Install and run them in safe mode, but it’s probably best to install one of them, run it, then un-install it, before proceeding with the other one.
Once you’ve done all this, re-boot into normal mode, and run everything again (get any ant-virus and spyware updates while you’re in normal mode).
Then, run Windows Update or Microsoft Update, but don’t accept the update for IE7 if prompted.
Run Windows Defender.
Download and install WinPatrol Free. It prevents hijackings (un-authorized changes to your IE settings).
You should also check Apllications and Processes to make sure that no un-needed applications are running. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL (all at the same time) and click on the Applications tab. Stop any apps that you don’t want by highlighting them and clicking on "End Task". Then click on the Processes tab. Be careful with this, but you can also stop any unwanted processes by highlighting them (one at a time) and clicking on "End Process". This won’t delete the process, it just stops it for this session. The worst that can happen is something that you need will stop working so just re-boot.
You can also got to your Start Up and remove any apps from there that you don’t always need on start up. Go to Start, Run, type msconfig in the box and hit OK. Open the Startup tab and uncheck and programs (apps) that you don’t need on start up (like Adobe Updater, Quicktime, etc.). Click on OK and then re-boot. When it starts up it will warn you that you have made a configuration change but just click on OK or Accept or whatever it says and then proceed as normal.
Whoever told you adaware would make your computer run faster was incorrect.
You first need to figure out WHAT is running slow and then you can troubleshoot it.
If your internet browsing speed is slow.. then this could be a problem with your ISP, the ISP of the website you are trying to browse, any of the routers in between.. or could be a refresh rate issue with your monitor or maybe videoram on your videocard (lack thereof).,
If your applications are running slow then you should check programs running in the background, at startup, etc.. and look into upgrading your RAM and possibly could be slow CPU speed.
Cleaning up your harddisk space will do very little for your speed. Defragmenting your computer will make things run a tad smoother if it is very fragmented. And if you are completely running out of space then the computer will definitely start dying as it needs space for temp files and virtual memory and things like that.
If you were infected with something… then I suggest getting antivirus and firewall from a reliable vendor like mcafee, properly configuring it, and automatically updating… and for antispyware I prefer spybot s&d.. otherwise I would not put a bunch of crap on the computer… if you are infected it can definitely cause speed issues as it kills your files and your computer… but otherwise you are wasting space and time and exposing yourself to more malware.
Good Luck.
Ad ware can take over your machine and make it useless to you. There are several good anti-spy ware companies. Select one and buy the download. It is worth the money in sanity. Check out this site. I’m not saying it is best, it will do what it says and you can use it free.
Anytime you add to your PC it will run slower; more memory in use. You need to use disk cleanup AND defrag.

It will help improve your system performance without expensive hardware upgrades.
Good luck!
