Hi, I have windows XP and my daughter was online last night. Somehow we got anti virus 2009 on the computer. I downloaded malware bytes and Ccleaner and I ran them both. They are both coming up as no viruses, malware, etc. and registry is clean.
However, when I try to get on Internet explorer it keeps coming out with either pop ups about anti-virus 2009 or it goes right to about:blank. I have read a lot of the other questions, but I can’t seem to find anyone that has the same type of issue.
I am fairly computer knowledgable, but not really experienced about going into windows explorer and changing or deleting things, so I am hopeful that someone might give me some ideas about what I can do.
Please, real help only. Thank you very much.

I just went through this issue with a client of mine. I’m still researching in but, there is a good work around. Since you can get on the internet from another computer I would suggest getting a jump drive and download firefox at http://www.firefox.com. You will not have this type of problem and it doesn’t get hit by malicious programs like IE6 or IE7. You will be able to Connect into secure connections with no problem.
Ex: bank accounts and email accounts.
Antivirus 2009 is an unwanted program, from the authors of Antivirus 2008 . These applications have resembling interface and "features". After stealth installation, Antivirus 2009 will show tonns of fake spyware\adware detection messages and offers to remove reported threats (after you purchase commercial version). But in real Antivirus 2009 is not a spyware cleaner, it’s just an imitation of spyware remover. Antivirus 2009 can also slow your computer and cause system errors and crashes. Remove Antivirus 2009 using manual removal instructions
