   I can recommend ccleaner. It’s freeware (Windows only) and easily found with a Yahoo! search. You may choose what you’d like cleaned out of your hard-drive (disk caches, cookies, all information, etc.) and can specify how deep you want things cleaned, all the way to Department of Defense (or NSA?) standard of seven passes over your hard drive. I ran it on my workstation before I went on summer vacation and couldn’t believe the personal information that was on there! Every song I’d listened to and every news article I’d read was stored somewhere on my hard drive. Apart from the privacy issue, cleaning out all that minutia also sped up my processor.
