This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities: 1. Hard disk drive is short on available disk space; 2. Several software programs have been installed/uninstalled leaving behind bad files and/or confusing the software; 3. Data Corruption; 4. Computer is overheating; 5. Bad Hardware.

I especially like the 1-Button feature for fixing everything. It will optimize your hard disk, memory and whole Windows system to give your computer maximum performance.
Actually those software work differently depending on your system. Best to try them out to see which can me most effected to your setup. Here is a review site:

The best one that I know of is Advanced System Care Pro. It will deep clean the registry and that does make a real difference in performance. There is a tutorial on how to use it at http://spyware.tech.officelive.com/systemcare.aspx
System Mechanic is by far the superior performer…Have it on my computer and bought it at Wal-Mart for $18…best investment i ever made…go to their website and check it out…I like the splash page with the odometer when it reads system is good…it will check 54 diffrent functions on computer from registry keys, broken shortcuts, scr saver safety errors…etc
My vote is with the lady that suggested CCleaner. Its decent and free.
But, IMHO, registry "cleaners" are highly overated. You are unlikely to see any performance boost.
I suggest that you back-up all your important data, re-format and re-install your Windows. Your machine will run like new!
I use ComputerCleaner (CCleaner) I find it helpful it works great..
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured REGISTRY CLEANER. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! 🙂

you might want to consider getting an external hard drive then move individual important files to it
then completely reformat your c drive
reinstall windows
reinstall other programs
see if you can increase your RAM
I only increased my RAM from 256 meg to 2 gig without any registry cleaning or reformating and my pc is like a whole new machine.
I also picked up mcafee antivirus software with their free mcafee siteadvisor. When I google, I trust what mcafee siteadvisor says about websites. I also picked up another refurbished Dell with flat screen monitor off of ebay for $200. I picked up another wireless card for the new pc. Networked them together with a router. Both on the same table. I feel like I am surfing the internet on 2 PCs on a beach in Hawaii. I am finally in paradise. maybe heaven. maybe pure hell if both crash at the same time.
You can also go to http://www.Download.com, and type in CCleaner.
You can go on "Softpedia.com" and type in Ccleaner. Its free and I think it does a pretty good job, it also deletes temp.internet files!
yep,, this does more than that though, and is free. advanced systemcare at http://www.iobit.com
I’ve heard Registry Mechanic is good
I’ve been using Eusing Registry Cleaner for years & it’s great. The first time I ran it, it found over 1100 items to remove! You can get it for free at:
http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm
I’ve also used CCleaner for years. I’ve had some issues with it’s registry cleaner so I don’t use that portion, just the cleaner to clean out the junk files. It’s free at
http://www.ccleaner.com/
You should also defrag if needed. It’s at Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Defragment, select C:drive & click Analyze, to see if it’s necessary
If you do all 3 of the above, you should see noticeable improvement.
