You can improve system performance with reginout but it is not free i guess.
Advanced Windows Care, download free here http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html
It removes spyware, fixes your registry, erases your active history and surfing traces, cleans up junk files and recovers disk space, optimizes your system configuration, prevents spyware from being installed, scans windows systems to find if any of your settings have been hijacked, and defrags your drive for you.
Sometimes they’ll pop up an ad that says they can do more with the "pro" version for a fee, but you really don’t need anything more than the free version. It is very robust.
1) Remove the outdated antivirus programs. Avast will catch any virus an outdated Norton or SpySweeper will, and it uses less resources (slows your computer less) than any other antivirus program.
2) You used your flash drive as disk cache – you can’t use a flash drive as RAM. How much that speeds your computer up depends on disk usage. If you access a cluster that’s already on the flash drive it will. Otherwise it won’t. (What’s on the flash drive is what you’ve already read from disk since you last started Windows.)
3) Litch King needs more computer than earlier versions.
4) You need a minimum of 2GB of RAM these days – programs are larger than they were 5 years ago.
5) See http://webdingers.com/wordpress/2009/07/faster/
ok number one NEVER have more than one anti virus.
Two, you computer probably has a million (exaggeration) processes running, press ctr+alt+del and you will see them. If you are running XP then you should only have 15-20 processes running.
What you need to do is download CCleaner (it is a completely free, legitimate cleaner and registry fixer) and go to the tools section, then startup. Disable all the non critical system processes (if you are unsure of whether one is critical then google it).
then reboot and look at task manager (ctr+alt+del) you should see many less processes, but there will still be too many, you will need to google the remaining ones and see which one you can disable, and how to do it.
Defrag your Hard drive. Its not viruses that slow your computer down over time, its the level of fragmentation of files. The more fragmented the files become the longer it takes the Hard drive to find them all and to put it all together.
Get a High Performance Hard Drive

I have been in your situation trying to play/load games and i sourced all sorts of free programs i have cc cleaner on my computer and that worked a bit defragging yes, but overall I purchased a program called RegistryEasy and that at the moment is no.1 on the internet for a good recommendable cleaning program, there is a free download on the site mate. I tried going through the processes but it takes ages if you are a bit of a novice like i was and took forever to get the info off of google and disable them. try this program and see how your computer runs after that it optimizes, cleans and just overall does a fantastic job cheers
