that will not delete necessary files, passcodes and good things but get rid of bad if you dont know much about computer. I need a free and safe one
I have windows xp, a dell computer, commodo, esquared, yahoo antispy.
My computer freezes up to hundreds of times a day, crashes and is real slow.
I tried deleting big files, scans,. defrag, disk clean up and scanned and did recovery of disk errors.
None of that helped. I put off registry cause I heard if you aren’t computer proficient you can mess up your computer. Is this true and any safe for newbies free registry cleaners or what else might help with these problems..using the computers has become frustrating with all these freezes.

CCleaner is safe and easy to use, get the SLIM version (smallest version, no unnecessary toolbar) from here: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds
I think it’s more likely to be a hardware problem of some kind. Turn the pc off and take the side cover off, see if the air inlets and case fans are thick with dust. Also the CPU fan. If it needs a good clean you’ll need to get some info on how to do it.
When you’ve turned the pc off, touch the power supply unit case and see if it’s hot.
Otherwise it could be your motherboard or processor on the way out.
ccleaner is good for cleaning temp folders but before you use it go to options menu then click on advanced and uncheck the first box that says only delete files in windows temp older then 48 hours . otherwise you will not get a good cleaning. then run virus and spyware scanners.
There is no reason to clean your registry. If your freezes and crashes are due to something in your registry, it’s not what a registry cleaner would fix, it’s what a spyware/malware/virus scanner would fix.
A registry cleaner removes *unused* or unusable entries from your registry. These could waste space in your registry and theoretically could make registry accesses a bit slower, but in practice it makes almost no difference.
So you’re barking up the wrong tree — this won’t help you solve your problem.
Did you make sure you don’t have a hardware problem? Is your CPU fan spinning? Is there a ton of dust in your computer? Does your computer pass a memtest86+ test?
To speed up your computer and free up space and memory for free:
Go to the Start Menu> Run
Type in "appwiz.cpl"
Uninstall whatever you don’t need.
Next, go to Start> Run and type in "msconfig".
Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck everything you don’t want to startup. If you want, you can uncheck everything, and your anti-virus will still restart itself when you log on.
Now go to My Computer> Hard Drive> Documents and Settings> [USER NAME]> Local Settings> and delete everything inside the Temp Folder. (This is a hidden folder so you will need to have "show hidden files and folders" checked in Folder Options) All the files in this folder are just temporary files that your Internet stored for certain websites.
Next, you should install CCleaner; it will get rid of alot of temporary files on your computer. It also has a registry repair system, which is easily the best free one available on the Internet:

Another option is to try defragmenting your computer.
Go to the Start Menu and go to All Programs
Go to Accessories and System Tools.
Choose Disk Defragmenter and when it loads click defragment.
Next, go to Device Manger (Start> RightClick My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager) and expand all listings. Now rightclick and update all drivers.
Another thing I would say is to compress your files if you already haven’t.
Open My Computer and right click on your hard drive
Check the Compress Drive button and let it do its thing.
Finally, make sure your Hard Drive doesn’t have any bad sectors. Go to My Computer> Right Click Hard Drive> Properties> Tools Tab> Check Now> Check both boxes and Start. It will ask you to reboot, so reboot. This will clear out any bad sectors on your Hard Drive.
These are short-term solutions however. The easiest way is to just upgrade the RAM on your system, but at least the ways above are free.
Good Luck =]
