   Before installing any more gfx drivers uninstall them and catalyst. Re-boot, and (depending on your OS) windows will boot up using its native drivers. Are you using the drivers which came with your card or have you downloaded the latest ones from ati.com? If not, download these first.

   You don’t actually need catalyst to run your card, you just need the drivers. When on the ati site have you will see 2 downloads, one for Catalyst and a smaller one for drivers only. Choose the latter and see if that helps (you can always install Catalyst later if you really like it).
