Disc cleanup then defrag. Get rid of all the music, games and pictures. You can saave the pictures on your Yahoo mail, you can listen to the radio online or at home, and you can play games online without downloading.
http://boost-computer-performance.info/ to use regcure, it scans your computer in no time at all and finds errors and problems on your computer that anti-viruses and anti-spyware doesn’t find. try cleaning your computer. go to start, all programs, accesories, system tools, and disk cleanup. this helps you delete all unnecesary files that make your pc run slowly. also try to defragment your computer. go to start, all prgrams, accesories, system tools, disk defragmenter. this helps you organize your files to improve system performance. you should do this at least once a month. this will defenetly speed up your computer. the disk cleanup doesn’t take that long, but i do warn you that defragmenting takes 1-3 hours long.
Viruses are a genuine problem and it could be the reason, in your case. But I am inclined to think, not!!!
The hardware specs sound good but doesn’t say much regarding bus speeds, et. al.
Most likely, it could be something as benign as slacky "housekeeping".
Take a look at one of my "best answers" on this same subject, if you can.
Simple things such as defragmentation, deleting unwanted files, deleting long time dormant programs, utilities and games will dramatically improve performance.
First, I suggest perform a search on *.tmp and delete all the files that the search brings up.
Second, delete all unwanted programs, even if you think that you might use in soon.
Third, defragmentation, for which I suggest that you use the native defrag software that comes with the operating system — it will do a pretty good job — for free!
Another thing, if you harddrive is anything more than 20G, then I suggest that you start the defrag program just before you get into bed to sleep for the night and then pick it up the next day — Friday or Saturday evening is the best time to get started on this.
Lavasoft Ad-aware and Spybot: Search and Destroy will help get rid of a lot of spyware and adware. Both are free. You also might have a lot of useless programs running in the background that you might not even know about. Hit Ctrl, Alt, and Delete, then click on the processes tab. 50 is a lot a processes to be running (I have about 30). You might want do an internet search on each process to see which ones you don’t need and end them. You almost might need to upgrade your cooling in your system, like getting new fans. Norton has been pretty good to me in terms of virus protection. Hope this all helps.
windows care v2 personal – free
http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html
it cleans your registry, spywear, cookies, and optimizes your system.
use bitdefenders online scanner free anytime with no download
http://www.bitdefender.com/
if you have AVG free get rid of it it has destroyed every pc Ive ever seen it installed on.
Zone alarm is ok for freeware firewall and antivirus
but use it with http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html
mite wanna do a spyware scan coz spyware and adware slows computers down heaps, also avg is a good free virus program i use it
bout tuning it up his best to take it to the computer store to see what they can do to upgrade they’d no best
the first thing you should do is run a virus scn with norton or osme other anti virus program, then you can clean up some hard drive space. back up your data and delete some of the unneeded stuff. then you can turn off the unwanted programs tht are running. quit the programs you dont want to run from the taskbar on the bottom righ tof the screen. then when ur done with tht, defragment your hard drive
Whenever I finish Internet Browsing, I always clean the cache and delete the cookies from my browser, daily.
It makes my searches go faster and the computer run smoother.
For example:
On Explorer, I go to — Tools — Internet Options — and go to delete in Browsing History. When it asks delete all, I hit delete all.
Since they changed the options for Netscape so much, I would find ways to clear the history and cache in that too.
The same for Safari.
Good luck!
Try to defrag or unload any programs that arnt needed
Use CCleaner, adaware, avast or AVG, spybot. All of the software I mentioned is freeware.
Don’t forget to defrag your HDD once every few weeks will also speed things up.
