Your computer can start running slow for many reasons.
You may need to clean your system (wont loose any files). Have a look at this. It was very helpful for me!
http://gwpdwork.regfix.hop.clickbank.net/
Its called Registry Fix. It helps speed up computer by fixing
-Missing file associations
-Missing startup programs
-Invalid device drivers
-Invalid application paths
-Missing DLL files
-Missing help files
-Missing system fonts
-and loads more problems!!!!
Try to clean up your pc first with these programs

When all that has been done, you go to
Start – run – cleanmgr – ok
You can go to download.com or pcworld.com and get the following free programs:
anti-virus – AVG
spyware – Ad-Aware and Spybot (get both!)
general clean-up – CCleaner
defrag and registry clean-up – Eusing
Make sure windows is set to get automatic updates.
start
all programs
accessories
Setup tools
Disk Defragment and then Disk Cleanup
Try this:
1. Delete unneeded files
2. Delete cache from Internet sites
3. Remove unneeded applications
4. Remove unneeded Drivers.
You don’t need to lose all your pictures and important files!
start->all programs->accesories->system tools->disk clean up
if you want to make your pc even faster try tart->all programs->accesories->system tools->disk defragmenter
and defragment your hard drive;)
I can sense your frustration. I have had the same problem in the past.
Some uninstallers for Windows software do not completely remove all traces of the software from the registry. It is possible that these traces may interfere with performance or have other negative impacts. Using a registry cleaner is a way to get rid of these bits. The registry cleaner scans the registry, and picks out the unnecessary and/or damaged pieces and deletes/repairs them.
There are many registry cleaners on the market today… you can look at some reviews of the top selling products here… http://registrycleanupsoftware.com/reviews.html
One of these products solved my problem.
There is also a terrific book called "The PC Secret Formula". It is very comprehensive and will guide you thru a step by step process of optimizing and securing your PC. This resource is really top notch. I had to dig around to find the link to it but I finally found it… http://askfirstmarketing.com/evaluates/PCSecretFormula
Hope this helps
