I have read bad reviews of some free downloads and no longer know what to trust. But i definately need to speed up my system and get it back to its old self.

None! you get what you pay for! I used a couple on my old xp and after a cleanout, pieces of programs vanish, and other stuff starts getting funky. Your playing with the soul of the system.
