   once a week should be alright for the hard disk

   little by little. so eventually it will affect badly on your disk.

   Mostly, no. Though you really shouldn’t defragment unless you need to. It causes extra wear and tear on the drive for little performance benefit. Analyze and if it says you need to defrag then go ahead.

   You don’t really have to manually scan with Norton, either. The program checks files and programs as you use them so you don’t really have to scan everyday. Once a month should be fine.
