No ,when you upgrade the format option witch is on the advanced options will be unavailable. You don’t have to pay for the full version ,do what "safe mode" said.
Use simple uninstaller like this one http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/myuninst.html
There is no guarantee that Vista Upgrade fill fix all your problems. I have heard many complains about it(Upgrade not preinstalled).
Do not format your disk. It is a stupid suggestion.
Format your drive, this will clean it right off, instructions are available on the net. Make sure you can boot from disk. Insert new disk, boot up and follow the install instructions. Why Are You Going to Vista, it is crap!!
You will have to get all Vista compatable programs also.
Merry Christmas.
All an upgrade does is insert, replace, and delete files need or not needed to change ur os, such as in xp to vista, the upgrade would replace the appearance files to obtain the transparency.
Hmmmm good question. The difference between an OEM copy and an upgrade copy of Vista is that the upgrade will only work if you have a previous version of windows installed. This is why is cheaper, you are a returning costumer. So if you format the drive I doubt the upgrade will work since it will not detect any previous versions of windows. Now you can partition the drive and install the upgrade on the second one and after you are done you delete the older partition but I think the option to install anywhere else but the drive C: is disabled. Do not format the drive before you call microsoft to make sure or read the terms on the DVD
EDIT: OK do this. Use your windows XP CD and start the computer and format the drive and reinstall windows. This will give you a clean helthy installation.Don’t do anything else. Then start with the vIsta DVD and install windows. You only have the option to upgrade. Before you format don’t forget to backup your files.
PS.Don’t forget to activate windows XP before the upgrade
