Yes you can but it would be smart to go ahead and use the Defragmenter on your system. If it is a Windows computer then you should be fine.
First what you need to do is click on the start button and select Run
Then type in cmd (This should pull up the command prompt box)
Once there you need to type in defrag and allow your computer to do what you just asked. This will NOT delete any files, all it does is collect everything from each file and put back where it needed to be.
After this you move all of your music to your storage device.
Once this is done you can do if you want to save your computer first is to go back to the command prompt box and type in cleanmgr This will delete your temporary files and empty your recycle bin all at once. Then you type in chkdsk/f/r this will find any problems with your computer’s hard drive and fix them if it can. It might tell you to perform this at a later date because a user is working on the computer, if this happens click ok and it will perform this the next time you completely shut down your computer and turn it on. It will take awhile but it will repair your hard drive to where you have more room for your pictures and music.
Or you could just do a complete rewrite of the OS(operating system) by deleting everything before you start the apllication of the OS again.
I hope this was helpful and easy to understand!
