   there is an alternative media player, totally free, called vlc media player. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ down load it there. it will play your movies. When you are playing it, you double click the movie to make it go full screen ( meaning your looking at just the movie) To get rid of the letter boxing, right click on the movie, select crop, them 4:3 ratio. this will make the movie fill the screen, but you’ll lose some of the stuff going on on the sides. If you buy a dvd in "full screen" your getting the same effect though. To make it go back, right click, crop, default.

   VLC blows Windows Media player away, btw. It has ten times as many features.
